Kevin ‘KC’ Cantwell has been granted Honorary Life Membership to Baseball Queensland for his significant service to BQ and to the game of baseball.  With respect flooding in from all around Australia, it’s obvious that KC’s passion for the sport not only inspires the players and coaches, but the entire baseball community.

“KC played with NSW Claxton Shield for a lot of years and in 1978 for Queensland. For 4 years he was the state coach and he started coaching kids at that stage, and juniors, and has been doing it ever since. The last 15-20 years he’s mostly worked with the Elite guys and he’s still coaching at club level too. He was actually asked by the old Australian coach to go and help his hitters.  That’s the respect he has throughout Australia and honestly, he is the most respected guy in the country.”

“The unanimous vote to grant Kevin BQ Life Membership was a testament to the positive impact he has had on so many people from the baseball community. Not only did the vote show he is a worthy recipient, words were shared from the floor highlighting his reach across baseball in Queensland. It was an honour to be able to put Kevin’s name forward for Life Membership and I am so grateful that he was able to get the recognition he deserves for being a great servant to this wonderful game of baseball.”

– JAMES SOMERVILLE

“Kevin Cantwell becoming a Baseball QLD Life Member being recognised for his many years of contribution in QLD is well and truly deserving. The wealth of knowledge and experience he has offered over many years to players and coaches is outstanding, specifically working with the catchers. Kevin is never short of a story of when he played and the teams he has been involved with, Kevin continues to be active and part of this year’s winter development and State squad programs.

I look forward to seeing Kevin out on the field helping out our young and upcoming players.”
