The Baseball QLD Futures league was opened on Wednesday evening by Mr Chris Norrie, BQ Commissioner and Mr Nev Brockie, BQ Hall of Fame & Life Member. Chris welcomed and thanked all person involved, and the sponsors with bringing the Futures League to life. Mr Nev Brockie threw the ceremonial first pitch at each game.
David Nilsson representing the Brisbane Bandits attended to oversee that talent on display, which further supports the new Baseball QLD and Brisbane Bandits partnership.

Robina State High Open Maruyama Field

Robina State High School have a long history of delivering a Baseball Academy as part of their educational options and Mr. Danny Maruyama has a long history of supporting baseball throughout Queensland including the Robina High baseball program. Both of these wonderful contributions to the baseball community were recognised on Saturday with the opening of Maruyama Field on the grounds of Robina State High School.

Mr. Maruyama threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the first game on the new field being played between the current students and program alumni, with many dignitaries in attendance. The ceremony and naming of the field were a wonderful gesture of gratitude to Mr. Maruyama, a long time supporter of baseball in Queensland.

Many students now have an opportunity to pursue their baseball and scholastic goals at Robina High School on a fantastic facility.

The QBUA Association Seminar has been completed for this season. Here is a second chance to renew your umpire accreditation.

Come along to the U16\ U18 State Titles 1st to 4th October 2021 Redlands and Wests, and the Umpire Coordinator of the championship can sign off to extend your accreditation for the coming season at zero cost to the club or the umpire.

The umpire will be require to attend for a minimum of one full day, or three games over the four days.

There will be limited places available so please let us know as soon as possible.

EOI – Commissioner’s Team for U16 and U18 State Titles

EOI – Commissioner’s Team for U16 and U18 State Titles

Baseball QLD is seeking Expressions of Interest from players and coaches wishing to take part in the up and coming State Titles in a combined ‘Commissioner’s Team’. The intent of this initiative is provide opportunity to players who missed selection in their respective Region Team. Providing this opportunity has the potential for ongoing development throughout this period of the year and preparation for the Summer Season.

Futures League Team Rosters Announced

Baseball QLD would like to congratulate all players selected from the draft that was conducted on Friday, 3 September 2021. The players selected will participate in the inaugural Futures League competition scheduled to start on Wednesday, 15 September 2021. Congratulations also to the assistant coaches that have now been appointed, we look forward to the entire coaching staff leading their respective teams with the extensive knowledge and experience.

Baseball QLD thanks all players who submitted their expressions of interest, with each team roster of 16 players this meant that there would be players that are not be selected through the draft process. Continue with your development and working hard, you will get your opportunity soon.

Baseball QLD Director of Game Development, Mr David Badke commented that “it is very exciting to see the Futures League come together, and I look forward to the competition getting underway. We had over 100 players submit an expression of interest, which is a fantastic response that indicates to me that our local players are looking for more opportunities at a higher level to showcase themselves, Badke said.

I would also like to thank all the people involved in the Futures League working group for all the hard work they have put in to bring this together, competitions like this can’t happen without great people, Badke said.
