Named in honour of Emeralds legend Jacinda Barclay, the participation tournament is for youth girls aged 13-16. Perth baseball club Carine Cats will host the event from October 1-7, 2023.
The Barclay Cup was created as a national event to celebrate and empower young girls in baseball, in memory of the late Jacinda Barclay, whose legacy continues to inspire women’s baseball in Australia.
Jacinda’s mother, Deb Barclay, expresses her joy and pride in seeing this tournament grow and provide opportunities for young athletes. Jacinda’s passion for the sport and her belief in encouraging girls from all backgrounds to join in baseball make this event truly special. Unlike the traditional state team versus state team format, the Barclay Cup embraces inclusivity and encourages multiple teams from each state to participate based on interest levels. This creates an exciting and dynamic atmosphere for players, fostering camaraderie and friendship among participants.
