QUEENSLAND MASTERS TOURNAMENT : UPDATE 27/04/2022

The rain continues to impact on the summer of baseball and the Masters tournament now joins all the other competitions where games have been washed out.

Weather permitting, we are going to try and get this event completed this coming weekend.
A revised draw will be published before Friday 29th April, and we plan to recommence on Sunday 1st May with finals to be played on Monday 2nd May.

We ask that team managers seek their players commitment to this proposal as all teams will be playing on Sunday. If teams are unable to attend, please contact Tony McPhail 0411755776 or president@surfersbaseball.com before 5.00pm Thursday 28th April 2022.

Additionally, we are seeking umpires and scorers to make themselves available too.

Both Baseball Queensland and the Surfers Paradise Baseball Club look forward to making the event a feature on the annual baseball calendar.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Thank you to the parents and supporters that attended the Tournament over the weekend to support the 53 teams that participated from Rookie Ball to Big League. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Events such as this require qualified officials and we had more officials than ever before volunteer to support the event. Thank you to the Scorers, Umpires and Coaches that volunteered and helped make the event such a success. Thank you to Michelle Welch and Karen Jackson for their help in preparing GameChanger for the event and for supporting Scorers throughout the event. To the Umpire Coordinators Barry Foat, Mark Bramwell and David Everett, your experience and professionalism in supporting and guiding the biggest crew of Umpires gathered for a Baseball Queensland event is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Thank you also to Tournament Directors Jordon Thomson, Ricky Verdejo and Matt Glasson for their efforts in managing the schedule and identifying a Champion in each division despite weather conditions presenting some challenges.

It was a massive effort for our two host clubs Redcliffe Padres Baseball Club and Narangba Demons Baseball Club who delivered sensational facilities for teams to play on under some challenging wet weather conditions. Thank you to the grounds crews at both clubs, the volunteers in the canteen and on the barbecue and the club committee at each club for your wonderful support of this event. Thank you for all your work in delivering a successful event.

Thank you also must go to the event’s major supporters, the Queensland Government and Moreton Bay Regional Council.

On behalf of the staff and Board of Management at Baseball Queensland I wish to express our sincere gratitude to all those who contributed to make the event a success, and wish those teams progressing to National Championships all the best for a safe and enjoyable National Championship campaign.

Multiple Team Tie for Big League but Metro take it out.

Multiple Team Tie for Big League but Metro take it out.

After a weather impacted event, the shortened schedule made for a potential for teams to tie in a first past the post round robin format, and they did.

Brisbane Metro Win the 2022 Big League State Titles on the application of the Runs Against Ratio to separate tied teams.

Gold Coast finished in second with Bris North taking third.

Congratulations to all teams that took part in this the first Queensland Big League State Titles.
