Qsport Free Webinars

Qsport Free Webinars

Because of the COVID-19 emergency, QSport is supporting a planned series of free webinars being facilitated by Active Queenslanders Industry Alliance to provide urgent financial and revenue advice to clubs and organisations.

Everyone is welcome to participate, and we encourage more than one club committee member to join the webinar.
Once a committee member or staff member registers they will receive financial templates – these will be fully explained during the session.

The spreadsheet templates will automatically produce financial figures for clubs’ projected revenue and income during this period of closure. Additionally, there will be some discussion on how to raise funds during this period.

The webinars will be straightforward and practical and are designed to help clubs save themselves from financial disaster.

State Titles Postponed Indefinitely

State Titles Postponed Indefinitely

Following Baseball Australia’s announcement to postponed the National Little League tournaments, Baseball Queensland would like to share that we have taken the necessary steps to post pone the Little League, Junior League and Senior League State Titles indefinitely.

While Little League International has suspended all play for the foreseeable future there has not yet been a decision made on whether the various Little League World Series events will go ahead this year.

We accept it is becoming increasingly unlikely we will be able to participate in these events in the current climate. Baseball Queensland will continue to work with Baseball Australia and Little League International to ensure that if the situation does improve to the point where we can safely host events and provide teams with an opportunity to play in these pathway events in time to qualify, then we will work towards providing those opportunities.

A message from the CEO.

A message from the CEO.

A message to the Baseball Queensland family,

This isn’t how the 2019/2020  summer season was supposed to end.

As I’m sure it has been for all of you – it has been a difficult time for all of us at Baseball Queensland as we’ve sought the best solutions to problems we never really imagined facing. I am so very grateful for and proud of the baseball community for how they have dealt with these challenges.

I want to take a moment today to acknowledge their contributions, highlight recent achievements of BQ, and say a little about what we’ll be doing going forward.

On behalf of BQ, I would like to thank the Board of Management, the President’s committees, the umpires, scorers, grounds crews, parents, families and players.

Secondly, I would like to thank the Greater Brisbane League, the Gold Coast Baseball Association, the Sunshine Coast Baseball Association, the North Queensland Baseball Association, the Queensland Baseball Umpires Association, and the Queensland Baseball Scorers committees for their tireless and selfless work throughout the season.

Baseball in Queensland simply would not exist without the many quality individuals in these organisations doing the hard yards, day in and day out, to support baseball in their communities.

Thank you for your commitment to and passion for the game.

BQ relies on every one of you, and the hard and sometimes thankless work you put in, to ensure that every game of baseball played in our state is as safe, fun, and competitive as possible.   Your service and dedication assure the future of baseball in Queensland.

One reason why it is especially disappointing for baseball to have ground to a halt like this is that we have been going from strength to strength the past few seasons and we were looking forward to continued growth throughout 2020.

Now, as to the immediate future. While we wait and hope for the best, be assured that we at Baseball Queensland will be hard at work getting ready for whatever comes next. This is an opportunity for us to get to work on some of those ideas and projects that have been on the back burners.

Baseball Queensland Board of Management have begun the process of reviewing the strategic plan with vision of leveraging off the success of the existing pillars with a focus now of setting achievable milestones that will support the continued growth of the sport.

When a baseball team is successful they play with unity and with a passion for a common vision and shared goals – these are just the characteristics we will need to get through these difficult times.

Baseball Queensland continues to work with the Winter Associations regarding the upcoming winter season.  Contingencies will be considered, taking into account the fast-paced ongoing nature of further restrictions, long-term restrictions that have already been foreshadowed and suitable timelines for training before the commencement of the season.

Non-essential travel restrictions look certain to affect the National Little League events scheduled in the coming months and Baseball Queensland is working with Baseball Australia and our state and territory colleagues.

When the dust settles and we are advised that we can resume play, Baseball Queensland assures you that we will be ready to go. And that we remain committed to our vision of Building a better future for baseball.

We urge the baseball community to adhere to the restrictions in place and review all health information available.

In the meantime look after yourselves, your families, your friends, and the people doing it tough in your communities.

If you have any questions about Baseball Queensland’s approach to this crisis or if you feel we can be of some assistance – we would be happy to hear from you.
