Baseball Queensland is pleased to share our BQ COVIDSafe plan for stages 2, 3 and 4.
This updated COVIDSafe plan aligns with the new direction shared by the Queensland Government on October 10 2020.
Notice of Baseball Queensland AGM
The Annual General Meeting of Baseball Queensland will be held on Thursday 3 December 2020 from 7:00pm at Sports House, 150 Caxton St, Milton QLD. A Zoom session invitation will be extended to those Member Delegates from remote centres. Zoom Session details will be circulated to Delegates directly.
AGENDA
a) record of attendance, confirmation of Proxies; and
b) confirmation of minutes from previous AGM; and
c) the Board of Management and Chief Executive Officer’s report for the preceding financial year; and
d) the financial report of Baseball Queensland for the preceding financial year; and
e) the auditor’s report upon the books and accounts for the preceding financial year; and
f) the election of Baseball Queensland’s Commissioner; and
g) the election of two members (Directors) for a three year appointment to the Board of Management; and
h) the election of one member (Director) for a two year appointment to the Board of Management; and
i) the appointment of an auditor for the following year; and
j) general business as required.
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Baseball Queensland hereby calls for nominations for candidates for election to the Board of Directors for Baseball Queensland. Nominations are to be submitted to the Chief Executive Officer gareth@baseballqld.asn.au by no later than COB 5 November 2020. Please note that nominations need to be submitted on Form A – Page 18 of the BQ Constitution.

Umpire Assessments
The QBUA will be running umpire assessments of club umpires throughout the 2020/21 season.
We are looking for the clubs to provide us with dates that will suit the club. We will then schedule one of those dates, and notify the club on which day the assessor will attend the club. This could be a Saturday covering junior games, or a Sunday for senior games.
All umpires working games that day will be assessed and will receive a post-game assessment. A written assessments will be sent to each umpire via email.
The assessments can also be for Community umpires requesting to be up graded to an Association level, QBUA must be notified before the day if an upgrade is being requested.
Note; Any upgrades approved, will be for the 2020/21 season only. To retain the upgraded accreditation the umpire will be required to attend an Association Umpire Course.
Australian Sport Officiating – Free online summit
QUT is hosting a free online summit regarding Australian Sport Officiating.
Keynote speakers include Cheryl Jenkins, Chief Umpire from the Australian Open Tennis Tournament, 2019 World Cup Netball Umpiring Panel Member Jacqui Jashari, and Dr. Clare MacMahon, Senior Lecturer at La Trobe University and co-editor of the text ‘Sports Officials and Officiating: Science and Practice’.
The event has been designed around three key themes: Development & Retention, Technology & Innovation, and Decision-Making Impact. Individual summit segments will be 30min in length structured as a short presentation by each keynote speaker/researcher followed by an opportunity for audience questions.
